General Description
Are you passionate about helping young learners thrive in literacy? Join the Montevallo Scholars Literacy Tutor team!
As a Literacy Tutor, you'll provide engaging, twice-weekly after-school tutoring to elementary students during the spring semester and participate in a four-week literacy enrichment program in June 2026. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact while applying your coursework in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Essential Job Duties
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver small-group literacy instruction tailored to students' needs
  • Support early readers with engaging, research-based strategies
  • Collaborate with teachers and fellow tutors to enhance student learning
  • Commit to consistent attendance and professional conduct

Education and Experience
Must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program and currently enrolled in Methods Block Courses.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Ideal Candidates:
  • Currently enrolled in Methods Block courses (Early Childhood/Elementary Education)
  • Passionate about literacy and student success
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and ready to learn through hands-on teaching
