Accounting Analyst
JOB PURPOSE/ JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing accounting reports, performing accounts payable and receivable duties, booking journal entries and reconciling accounts, supporting, month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This role provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, validates that liabilities are accounted for in the proper period, meets monthly closing and audit deadlines, and executes tasks and projects as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Support accounts payable by managing the expense platform, processing invoices and memos, assisting with check runs, and responding to vendor inquiries.
  • Supports weekly reconciliations of accounts receivable and sales data
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
  • Review, analyze and book journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor balance sheet accounts and identify unusual transactions or trends. Responsible for ensuring account transactions are appropriately aligned to account type and transactions are reasonable and valid.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Analyze financial data to identify opportunities for process improvement using the use of Power BI, RPA and macros.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting and financial issues.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and automation initiatives.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and management reports as requested.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business with a concentration in accounting or finance.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Strong team collaboration, communication, writing, interpersonal, organizational skills and ability to interact with all levels of plant operational groups, management, and vendors.
  • Ability to self-motivate, multi-task, prioritize and manage time.
  • Ability to look at current processes and develop solutions to deliver better, more effective outcomes. This would include the possible use of IT solutions and automation. Proficient in Excel and usage of formulas.
  • Prior experience with Oracle, Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics is a plus but not required.

Work Environment:
  • The job is an in-office environment with flexibility to work remotely. The tentative work schedule is 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. (Monday - Friday); however, alternate work schedules may be considered or otherwise required depending on business needs.
