Job description

The E&I Technician is responsible for providing maintenance services to internal customers. Executing site preventative maintenance activities while communicating effectively with internal customers and outside service providers and suppliers. This position will also support capital construction and commissioning activities.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute and record periodic maintenance and repair on terminal electrical equipment and instrumentation in a computerized maintenance program.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all terminal equipment.
  • Assist the Operations and Drumming Departments as required.
  • Coordinates with other Maintenance Technicians and other Departments.
  • Capable of participating in the terminal emergency response organization and wearing an SCBA and other chemical PPE.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for required task, and safely perform job duties.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support on a routine call rotation and occasionally as job duties demand
  • Drive a company vehicle.
  • Depending on the E&I Maintenance Technician position being filled- may operate heavy equipment.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial E&I Trade School or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience in an industrial setting. This requirement can be waived by IMTT depending on educational background and/or other occupational experience.
  • General experience in maintenance, electrical and instrumentation in a chemical manufacturing or storage facility.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Must be a team player, responsible, and trustworthy.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to self-direct work and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have computer literacy - Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Hours of Work
  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
  • This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All hours worked must be accurately recorded, and overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

  • This job operates in an industrial maintenance shop and in an outdoor environment.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
