Systems Engineer - JobID-0036 Department: Engineering Employment Type: Full Time Location: San Diego, CA Compensation: $90,000 - $184,000 / year Description About The Role: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Systems Engineer to be part of our Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) team and based out of our San Diego, CA location. This Systems Engineer will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the Navy's toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, efficiency, and teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space. The Systems Engineer will provide IT infrastructure configuration management, hardware and software integration and maintenance, technical support and documentation for Naval tactical applications, develop and enforce standards and standard operating procedures for internal teams and external customers. Clearance & Location Requirements: * All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. * This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 4 days in office, based out of our San Diego, CA location. Key Responsibilities What You Will Do: * Work closely with cross-functional teams of software, systems, integration, information, production and test engineers and subject matter experts to understand requirements, workflows, front-and-back end features and architecture. * Adhere to government and industry security, reliability, and performance standards * Organize test events for IDT software integrated with Navy combat systems in virtual environments. Support land-based and at-sea test events around the U.S and internationally. * Develop design documentation that can be referenced by the customer and provide end user training. * Develop solutions and processes to better support the customer and make teams more efficient. Participate in requirements, configuration, design, and performance reviews. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Who You Are (Required): * Bachelor's Degree in applicable discipline such as software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering (or equivalent full-time experience). * 3+ years' experience with one or more of the following: * IT system production planning and workflow * Network architecting, hardware optimization and planning * Platform integration and support system integration * STIG's and system hardening process * Networking concepts - TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Subnetting. * Virtualization Infrastructure, VMware and/or OpenShift Virtualization . * Working multiple projects in an agile work environment. * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed What Makes You Stand Out * * 2+ years' experience working with DoD and Naval systems * 1+ year experience with one or more of the following software disciplines: * Operating Systems (Windows and Linux) configuration and administration. * Container technologies such as Docker and Podman, * Linux RedHat (6.0-9.0) * Cisco devices as well as Dell servers * Kubernetes clusters, including node management, networking, storage, and workload orchestration. * Scripting (ex. Python, Bash, Powershell) * Automation tools such as Jenkins and Ansible. * Networking protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, IP, HTTP) * Desire to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
