Job Summary:
Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is a leading IT Industry company, and they are seeking a talented IMS Systems Programmer for a long-term contract opportunity. The role involves installing and maintaining IBM IMS environments, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring system performance and compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM IMS environments.
• Perform IMS Database (DB) and IMS Transaction Manager (TM) administration.
• Monitor system performance and implement tuning recommendations.
• Support IMS system migrations, maintenance, and version upgrades.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution.
• Work closely with application development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Apply IBM maintenance, PTFs, and security updates.
• Ensure system availability, stability, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and operational processes.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 7+ years of experience as an IMS Systems Programmer.
• Strong experience with IBM IMS DB/DC (IMS Database & Transaction Manager).
• Hands-on experience with z/OS operating system.
• Expertise in JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, SMP/E, RACF, and JES2/JES3.
• Experience with IMS installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of IMS Connect, Shared Queues, OTMA, and DBRC.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with IBM Mainframe modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of CICS, DB2, MQ, and TCP/IP.
• Experience working in large enterprise production environments.
• Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical systems.
Preferred:
• IBM Mainframe/IMS certifications are a plus.
• Automation experience using REXX or similar scripting languages.
• Exposure to DevOps or enterprise monitoring tools.
