Job description

Role: IMS / CICS Systems Programmer

Location: Hartford, CT

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • Working knowledge of SMP/E software installation process, analyzing PTFs and HOLDDATA, triaging HIPER, FIXCAT, and PE’d PTFs.
  • Maintaining software currency and semi-annual maintenance migration to development, QA, and production CICS/IMS regions.
  • Working knowledge of CICS and IMS parameters and internals to optimize functionality and performance as well as to resolve incidents.
  • Work with IBM and ISV providers to provide timely resolution to more complex issues.
  • Understanding of clients business groups and products as applicable to support the business needs and availability of individual CICS and IMS regions.
  • Ability to create new CICS and IMS regions, started tasks, and address spaces and to migrate new transaction definitions.
  • Adhere to clients change management processes regarding change windows, lead times, ServiceNow requests, and temporary access escalation.
  • Consult with business groups and other Technology teams on application development, new feature exploitation, proof of concepts, security enhancements, etc.
  • Attend monthly meetings with IBM and ISV to discuss product roadmaps, incidents, etc.
  • Experience connecting CICS & IMS to other technologies such as MQ and DB2.
  • Experience with configuring z/OS Connect to enable application API deployments and to invoke CICS transactions.
  • Develop and test solutions for high availability and disaster recovery.
