Job description

Seasonal Buyer Merchandiser

Supports Seasonal Buyer in merchandising Seasonal category for the enterprise. Manages import and vendor-related processes and paperwork. Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Locates new sources for products; develops and maintains quality standards.
  2. Assists Seasonal Buyer with enterprise review shows including, but not limited to managing temporary workforce being used to set up samples and organizing requests to review samples.
  3. Communicates to vendors and overseas agents specific marketing strategies, pricing issues, or special requests from the Buyers.
  4. Assists with the coordination of all packaging on corporate brands.
  5. Assists in determining best form of shipping to minimize costs and lead time; follows-up on import timelines.
  6. Assists in monitoring current trends and legislation affecting domestic and overseas purchasing.
  7. Analyzes product for construction, safety and quality.
  8. Collaborates with Buyers to identify vendor lines to review.
  9. Communicates all aspects of product to agents and vendors including Buyer-initiated revisions, spec changes, packaging.
  10. Reviews pre-production and ad samples; tracks product though development.
  11. Assembles marketing information for Division presentations.
  12. Builds database of each vendor outlining contact information.
  13. Works with overseas agents to ensure appropriate paperwork is completed for review if corporate brand packaging is required.
  14. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in International Business or related discipline, plus two-four years product development experience; or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Ability to understand customs and transportation of product on a global scale
  • Ability to analyze lab test results and make decisions based on those results
  • Ability to work weekends on an occasional basis
  • Ability to travel independently on an occasional basis
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
  • Familiarity with retail industry/technical terms and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to continue education
