Job description

North American raw material chemical importer/distributor is looking to fill a critical Director of Sales position. This is a virtual leadership position managing a small team of Virtual Account Managers in the USA. The company is focused on selling LTL (Less Than Truckload) quantities of imported chemical raw materials to industrial manufacturers in the United States and Canada. The products tend to be unique, niche oriented, difficult to find domestically, and produced by a very limited number of suppliers in the World. This is a home-based position and ideally will be located somewhere in the Midwest or Northeast part of the country. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a "fast-paced" team in a rapidly growing imported chemical business. The income opportunity is solid and comes with a very lucrative un-capped bonus plan. The overnight travel is expected to be minimal ~10% as this is a virtual role. Most of the travel will be to industry trade shows.

Responsibilities:  Responsible for 100% of the sales of the organization. Lead, support, and manage a small team of Virtual Account Managers selling a wide variety of niche imported chemical raw materials to industrial manufacturers in the USA and Canada. End use markets are varied and will include general industrial, paint & coatings, personal care, HI&I, water treatment, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, etc. Material is typically sold in LTL quantities (drums, bags, etc.). Develop and execute the sales strategy for the company. Utilize a CRM program to track, review, analyze and report sales opportunities and performance in sales team meetings and to Senior Management. Manage performance against budget and targets, implement reporting systems for accountability.

Requirements: 10+ years of chemical industry sales experience with at least 4 of the years in sales management. Chemical distribution experience is preferred. Experience working with imported chemicals is a plus. A track record of past sales and leadership success. A degree is required; a degree in Chemical Engineering would be a plus. A high level of self-motivation and desire to succeed. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Company Information: Rapidly growing North American importer/distributor of raw material chemicals.

Compensation: Base salary: $150,000 - $170,000. Plus, a very attractive uncapped bonus plan based on gross profit dollar growth of the business. Expected total compensation should be in the $175K - $225K+ range on average.  There is no cap on the bonus, so this could be higher. Excellent company benefits.
