Export Traffic & 3PL Coordinator
The Export Traffic & 3PL Coordinator is responsible for managing international shipments and ensuring freight is moved efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. This role works closely with customers, warehouses, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate container utilization, booking management, documentation, and transportation logistics while providing exceptional customer service. This is a great opportunity located in West Chicago, IL.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage export shipments from booking through final delivery, ensuring all freight is routed and loaded according to customer requirements and carrier deadlines.
  • Plan and maximize container utilization while maintaining accurate load plans and shipment schedules.
  • Review, verify, and finalize shipping documentation, rail billings, and carrier instructions to ensure compliance with port and rail cutoff requirements.
  • Maintain booking schedules with shipping lines and carriers to secure space availability and support uninterrupted service.
  • Communicate with warehouses, drayage providers, customers, and carriers to coordinate pickups, container loading, and freight movement.
  • Monitor shipment activity and proactively resolve delays, service failures, inventory discrepancies, and operational issues.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly documented, segregated, and handled in accordance with transportation regulations.
  • Track container and equipment availability, manage empty equipment inventories, and identify opportunities to optimize equipment utilization.
  • Maintain accurate sailing schedules and provide timely shipment updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review load confirmations and shipment records to verify cargo has been loaded correctly and all customer requirements have been met.
  • Support co-load and consolidation activities, ensuring freight is processed accurately and completed within required timelines.
  • Participate in customer meetings, onboarding activities, and the development of standard operating procedures to support client success.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, operating procedures, transportation regulations, and customer service standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, supply chain, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of international shipping, import/export operations, container planning, or transportation documentation is preferred.
