Summary:

The assistant project manager works closely with an experienced project manager, providing assistance and support in various tasks and project management functions within electrical construction projects.They actively assist the project manager in developing and implementing project initiatives, with values up to $100m +. The primary objective is to develop the skills to eventually work independently as a project manager.

What you'll do:

Project Pursuits:Contribute to project pursuits by learning to estimate, review quotes, identify value engineering opportunities, and finalize estimate summaries for proposal generation.

Work in Progress Management:Facilitate effective project management by managing documentation (RFIs, constraints, purchase order logs, shop drawings, change orders, field testing), collaborating with stakeholders (internal departments, general contractors and trades), assisting with the development of change orders, monitoring the project schedule and logs, managing task finances (including forecasting work progress), and aiding in logistics (procurement of equipment, materials).

Business Development:Establish new contacts as well as strengthen connections with our current clients. Grow a directory of business through regular contact with customers.

What you'll need for success:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in Construction Management or related field; Experience working in electrical construction a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.); knowledge of Microsoft Project a plus.
  • Familiarity with software like Bluebeam, Procore, Plangrid, Accubid, and Primavera P6 or other scheduling software a plus
  • Excellent team collaboration and customer service skills
  • Analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Solid prioritization and organizational abilities with the ability to satisfy concurrent deadlines
  • Self-motivation and initiative
  • Availability to regularly travel to sites within the Midwest required
