Job description

Purpose of the Role

The Pooling Programs Manager serves as the operational owner for CHEP, PECO, and other customer-managed asset pooling programs. The role is accountable for translating customer and pooler requirements into operating practices, execution standards, asset controls, and performance expectations across the network. Working closely with Operations, customers, poolers, and support functions, the role drives implementation, compliance, asset accountability, financial performance, and customer outcomes across the pooling program portfolio.

Areas of Accountability

Program Implementation & Customer Integration

  • Lead operational implementation and startup activities for new pooling programs, including readiness planning, site preparation, communication, training, and launch execution.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for customers, poolers, and internal stakeholders regarding pooling program execution.
  • Monitor implementation performance, issue resolution, and operational readiness during startup and stabilization.
  • Establish effective working relationships that support successful program execution across the network.

Operating Standards & Field Execution

  • Define customer, pooler, and operational requirements for the pooling program portfolio and provide operational input to Operational Transformation & Performance for the development and governance of standards, procedures, and work instructions. Monitor field execution against approved requirements.
  • Translate requirements into clear operating expectations, controls, and field execution standards.
  • Ensure implementation, adoption, and compliance with approved pooling program standards across participating locations.
  • Identify and address operational readiness, training, and execution gaps impacting performance.

Asset Accountability, Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain program quality and compliance through audits, operational reviews, performance analysis, and field engagement.
  • Monitor adherence to customer requirements, operating standards, and approved work practices across participating locations.
  • Own asset accountability across participating locations, including declaration of accuracy, transfer controls, asset recovery, and loss and damage exposure.
  • Own pooler invoice reconciliation, validation of billing accuracy, non-conformance charge resolution, and chargeback management.
  • Drive corrective actions that improve compliance, asset control, financial performance, and customer outcomes.
Performance Reporting & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Maintain reporting that provides visibility into program performance, asset utilization, compliance, financial exposure, operational risks, and corrective actions.
  • Analyze operational and financial trends and communicate risks, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership and customers.
  • Lead operational reporting and performance analysis for customer business reviews and internal operating reviews.
  • Coordinate issue resolution, customer requests, and implementation of activities across Operations, Finance, Quality, Safety, Account Management, Operational Transformation & Performance, and other support functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, logistics, pallet pooling, supply chain, asset management, customer program management, or related environments.
  • Experience with pooled assets, warehousing, transportation, depot, repair, or customer-managed supply chain operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of operational controls, asset accountability practices, compliance requirements, financial reconciliation, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into executable operational processes and standards.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence execution across multiple functions without direct authority.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 65% based on customer, implementation, audit, and site support requirements.
