Overview
Join UF Health as a Clinical Systems Consultant and play a pivotal role in transforming healthcare delivery across one of the nation's leading academic health systems.
The Clinical Systems Consultant serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for clinical systems analysis, process mapping, operational modeling, and quality analytics within the Office of the System Chief Quality Officer.
This position partners with clinical, operational, and executive leaders across UF Health to understand, evaluate, and redesign complex clinical care delivery systems that improve quality, safety, patient experience, and operational reliability. The Clinical Systems Consultant develops and implements enterprise standards for process mapping, systems analysis, and workflow modeling to support strategic clinical excellence initiatives.
Using systems engineering principles, quality improvement methodologies, implementation science, and advanced analytics, the incumbent evaluates how clinical systems function, identifies opportunities to reduce unwarranted variation, and designs scalable solutions that improve patient outcomes. As an enterprise consultant, this position facilitates multidisciplinary improvement efforts, develops educational resources and organizational standards, and promotes a shared approach to systems thinking across the clinical enterprise. The role collaborates closely with Quality Analytics, Information Technology, Operational Effectiveness, clinical operations, and physician leadership to ensure that improvement efforts are data-informed, sustainable, and aligned with UF Health strategic priorities.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Health Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Data Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Nursing, Medicine, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, DO, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Experience:
  • (5) Five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare quality improvement, systems engineering, implementation science, operational analysis, healthcare consulting, or clinical operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary improvement initiatives within complex healthcare organizations.
  • Experience facilitating process mapping, workflow redesign, and systems analysis.
  • Experience utilizing clinical and operational data to support organizational improvement.

License/Certification/Registration:
  • Certification such as Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green/Black Belt, CPHQ, PMP, or equivalent
  • Other Qualifications: Formal training in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Clinical Data Science, Operations Research, Implementation Science, or Healthcare Quality Improvement.
  • Experience developing simulation models (discrete-event simulation, system dynamics, agent-based modeling) to support healthcare operations.
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, or similar methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Epic, Caboodle, enterprise data warehouses, and healthcare quality data.
  • Experience designing educational curricula or delivering organizational training.
