The Role

This position oversees and guides Fiber Technicians in performing a wide range of splicing activities on both new and existing fiber infrastructure. The Supervisor is responsible for executing strategic plans that support organizational goals while ensuring compliance with all company policies, procedures, and directives. The role covers fiber networks across underground, buried, aerial, pad-mounted, and pole-mounted facilities. Additionally, this position manages the installation of network elements associated with both current infrastructure and network expansion initiatives.

The Main Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and support a team working in a technical environment

• Oversee construction and splicing activities to ensure safe, efficient operations and timely, high quality service delivery

• Prepare and review project plans and specifications that support regional and organizational objectives

• Ensure Technicians follow all safety standards, including proper use of tools, equipment, and required gas testing before entering utility holes or vaults; oversee maintenance and safe operation of heavy duty and electronic equipment

• Provide technical guidance on designs, new technologies, and service implementations within established standards

• Manage and maintain employee cost analyses to support accurate engineering estimates and assess financial impacts

• Ensure engineering and construction plans align with business strategies and support scalable, future ready network growth

• Lead Technician teams by setting clear objectives, managing performance, and emphasizing training, coaching, safety, quality, and expense control

• Represent Forged Fiber professionally with customers and governmental agencies

• Recognize team achievements and promote a culture of continuous improvement and high performance

Basic Qualifications

·       Previous experience supervising teams or leadership experience.

·       Working knowledge of the splicing and construction process for the telecommunication industry

·       Strong skills and experience in employee development to include training, coaching and mentoring

·       Strong customer service and communication skills

·       Computer skills required, including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

·       Candidate must have the ability to work in a consultative manner with others, i.e. establish rapport, interview, fact-find, present options, recommend solutions, follow-up and customer focused behavior

·       Previous experience in a multi-tasking, result oriented position in a deadline focused department

·       Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience. 5+ years related experience

·       Ability to travel as much as 35%-45%

·       A valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications:

·       2+ years of experience managing teams within a telecom technical environment

·       Requires varying hours to accommodate supervision of employees, including possible mandatory overtime and holidays

·       Must perform work with minimal supervision

·       Must be able to prioritize multiple projects and perform under pressure

·       Must negotiate timeframes for completion and meet critical deadlines

·       Must be willing and able to work with other coworkers to complete job assignments

 

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 Location Based Pay Ranges:

$65,000-$130,000
