Implementation Management information

What is implementation management?

Implementation management refers to the process of planning, coordinating, and overseeing the execution of projects or initiatives within an organization. Implementation managers ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget by managing resources, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. They often work closely with cross-functional teams to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and monitor progress throughout the implementation phase. Their role is critical in ensuring that new systems, processes, or products are successfully adopted and integrated into the organization.

What are common challenges faced by professionals in Implementation Management, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Professionals in Implementation Management often encounter challenges such as aligning multiple stakeholders, managing tight deadlines, and ensuring smooth transitions from planning to execution. Effective communication and proactive risk management are crucial for overcoming these obstacles. Building strong relationships with both internal teams and clients helps facilitate collaboration and quickly resolve issues as they arise. Regular status updates, clear documentation, and setting realistic expectations are best practices that contribute to successful implementation projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Implementation Manager, and why are they important?

To excel as an Implementation Manager, you need strong project management skills, deep understanding of client requirements, and a relevant bachelor's degree, often in business or information technology. Familiarity with project management software (like Jira or Asana), CRM systems, and certifications such as PMP or Agile are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and seamless integration of solutions in complex business environments.

What is the difference between Implementation Management vs Project Coordinator?

AspectImplementation ManagementProject Coordinator
CredentialsProject management certifications (PMP, CAPM), relevant experienceOften similar certifications, entry-level project management experience
Work EnvironmentLeads project execution, interacts with stakeholders, manages resourcesSupports project teams, tracks progress, assists with scheduling
Industry UsageUsed across industries for overseeing project deploymentCommonly found in project teams for coordination tasks

Implementation Management focuses on leading the execution of projects, ensuring deliverables meet objectives, and managing resources. Project Coordinators support these efforts by handling scheduling, documentation, and communication. While both roles require project management knowledge, Implementation Managers typically have more experience and certifications, and they take on a leadership role in project delivery.

At Guardian Dentistry Partners, we support a growing network of 170+ dental practices across 11.5 states (shout out D.C.!). As one of the Fastest Growing Companies in America (No. 384 on the 2024 Inc. 5000), we're proud of the culture we've built - one rooted in integrity, collaboration, and doing the right thing for our people and our practices.

From our Guardian Support Team (GST), we provide the operational, financial, and people support that allows our doctors and teams to focus on what matters most - caring for their patients and the communities they serve. While our partners share common values, we also celebrate the differences that make each practice unique. That balance is what makes Guardian special.

We're looking for an experienced dental operations professional who loves to teach to join our team as an Implementation Success Trainer (IST). If you thrive in fast-paced environments, light up when helping others master new tools, and don't mind living out of a suitcase for stretches at a time - keep reading.

Role Summary

The Implementation Success Trainer supports practices following system go-live to ensure successful adoption, stabilization, and effective use of our practice management system. This role is hands-on and field-based - you'll be in practices coaching teams through the post-go-live transition, helping them move from "we just went live" to "we've got this."

Key Responsibilities

Post-Implementation Support

  • Provide on-site support to practices after go-live

  • Address post-go-live challenges and adoption issues

  • Partner with Regional Managers and central teams on issue resolution

Adoption and Coaching

  • Reinforce correct workflows and system usage

  • Coach teams to improve consistency, confidence, and outcomes

  • Review usage against defined best-practice standards

Collaboration and Feedback

  • Share field insights and observations with central teams

  • Support documentation and knowledge transfer

  • Participate in relevant meetings as needed

Travel Expectations & Work Pattern

This role follows a structured, repeatable five-week cycle:

Weeks 1-4: On-Site Support

  • Travel on Sundays; on-site Monday through Friday midday

  • Return travel Friday afternoon

  • Primary focus: in-practice coaching, stabilization, and adoption support

Week 5: Remote Week

  • No travel required

  • Remote support provided as needed

  • Time allocated for documentation, follow-ups, and knowledge transfer

  • Vacation may be taken during this week, if desired

This cycle repeats throughout the duration of the assignment.

What You Bring

  • Dental Operations Experience: 2+ years as a dental office manager and/or regional manager, with 2+ years of hands-on experience using Denticon practice management software

  • Training Chops: 3+ years training teams on any practice management system, with a natural ability to make complex features click for all kinds of learners

  • Communication Skills: Confident presenter who can engage and inspire diverse groups of dental professionals

  • Tech Fluency: Comfortable across multiple software platforms; quick to get up to speed on new tools

  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Creative, proactive, and resourceful when it comes to overcoming adoption roadblocks

  • Collaborative Spirit: A true team player who thrives in cross-functional environments

  • Love of Travel: Genuinely excited about extensive, structured travel - living the road warrior life while making a real difference in practices across the country

Why Guardian?

We're not just growing fast - we're growing with intention. When you join the Guardian Support Team, you're joining a company that invests in its people just as much as its practices.

  • 401(k) with company match

  • PTO starting Day 1

  • Remote workspace support

  • Salary range of $80,000 - $85,000

  • And more!

If you want to be part of a team that values your expertise and gives you the opportunity to make a measurable impact across 170+ practices nationwide, we'd love to hear from you.
