Job Title: Maintenance Coordinator

Job Description

The Maintenance Coordinator oversees and performs both hands-on and administrative maintenance activities on the production floor within a high-volume, manufacturing environment. This role plans and coordinates facility and equipment maintenance, supervises repairs, and ensures that buildings, machinery, and automated systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The position primarily supports 3rd shift operations while collaborating closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all activities involved in the maintenance of facilities, machinery, and equipment to support continuous production.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel and provide clear work direction for maintenance and repair tasks, including assigning and following up on work orders.
  • Maintain the operating condition of buildings, production equipment, and support systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Research, plan, and prepare proposals for the procurement of equipment, tools, and replacement parts to support maintenance needs.
  • Diagnose equipment and facility problems, determine root causes, and define the necessary repairs and corrective actions.
  • Implement and manage a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule, ensuring work orders are released, executed, and completed on time.
  • Supervise and manage inventories of machine replacement parts, materials, and supplies to maintain proper stock levels and minimize downtime.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for outside vendors and service providers, coordinating service visits and ensuring quality work.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal codes, regulations, and safety laws related to facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Support the development and implementation of 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and other continuous improvement programs within the maintenance function.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures, and industrial maintenance operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with complex machinery and production equipment.
  • Supervisory skills with experience directing maintenance teams and assigning, scheduling, and monitoring work orders.
  • Planning and work order management skills, including scheduling, tracking, and documenting maintenance activities.
  • Electrical skills sufficient to diagnose and repair equipment and facility electrical issues safely and effectively.
  • Proficiency with laser, resistance, MIG, stick, and TIG welding processes as they relate to equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities in a production facility, ideally in a just-in-time setting.
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance challenges under time pressure in a high-volume, just-in-time operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a permanent position within an manufacturing facility . The environment is clean, quiet, and climate-controlled. Openings are available on C shift (3rd shift: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am, Sunday through Thursday). Candidates must be flexible to work weekends and up to 50 hours per week, including overtime as needed, while adhering to facility safety standards, production requirements, and established maintenance procedures. The work involves frequent interaction with robotic welding cells, automated equipment, and standard industrial tools in a modern, well-organized production environment.
