Position Summary:

Bennett Law Center is seeking a seasoned and strategic Managing Attorney to lead its Legal Department, with a primary focus on removal defense, family-based immigration, and humanitarian matters. In this leadership role, you will oversee attorneys and legal support staff, ensure high-quality legal work, strengthen legal workflows, and help develop a high-performing legal team. You will maintain a small caseload of complex or high-priority matters, with an annual billable requirement of 1,000 hours, averaging approximately 20 billable hours per working week. Additionally, you will work closely with the CEO, COO, and Operations Manager to align legal execution with firm goals, strengthen legal workflows, support operational priorities, and lead professional development for the legal team.

Responsibilities:

Staff Supervision and Management

Supervise Associate and Senior Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants.

Monitor quality and productivity of legal work.

Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and feedback to support staff development.

Identify training needs and coordinate with leadership to implement solutions.

Manage a small case load of complex or high-priority cases.

Provide surge support for Removal, Family and Humanitarian cases.

Legal Leadership and Firm Growth

Serve as the primary Consulting Attorneyon incoming cases.

Partner with the CEO, COO, and Operations Manager on legal team hiring, budget planning, staffing needs, and internal process improvements.

Participate in strategic planning for the legal department and firmwide initiatives.

Outreach & Collaboration

Foster a strong internal culture of collaboration within the legal team and across departments.

Represent BLC at community events, CLE panels, and bar associations.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree, active license in good standing with a U.S. State Bar (Florida preferred).

Minimum7+ years of experiencepracticing U.S. immigration law.

Strong litigation and removal defense experience preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of both immigrant and non-immigrant visa categories.

Strong client service ethics and ability to conduct Strategy Sessions with potential new clients.

Demonstrated success in team leadership or law firm management.

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Occasional travel may be required.

Schedule:

Full-time position with hybrid flexibility. The Managing Attorney is required to attend one monthly in-person leadership and attorney meeting at our Groveland office. Additional in-person attendance may be requested periodically for training, strategic planning, team development, or firm events. Day-to-day work may otherwise be performed remotely based on business needs, performance, and leadership effectiveness.
