Job description

Safety Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the facility is in compliance with safety laws and regulations. 
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. 
  • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
  • Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents. 
  • Manage and develop all the employees in the Safety and Health Department.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, or national policies and procedures to promote effective strategies for the safety of employees. 
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar role. 
  • Work in a fast pace environment where beef are processed.
  • Able to work at least 50+ hours a week

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, specifically the beef industry desired.

Skills: 

  • Knowledge/Experience with Cost Management and OpEx tools
  • Strong Office Package user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
  • Base salary range of $107,213 - $135,009/yr 
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

 The company is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for our team members and visitors. To assist in achieving that goal, we conduct a drug, alcohol, and background checks for all new team members post-offer and prior to the start of employment. The Immigration Reform and Control ACT requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of the third day of work.
