Job description

Immigration Legal Assistant

We are excited to partner with an established boutique immigration firm in Miami Lakes to recruit an experienced Immigration Legal Assistant. This premier practice prioritizes dedicated, compassionate client care over high-volume caseloads, focusing entirely on individualized attention for families navigating the legal system.

This on-site role requires a proactive, self-motivated professional who takes immediate initiative to manage critical case files and platform workflows efficiently. The ideal candidate pairs deep empathy for clients with a strict commitment to court deadlines, independently managing daily workflows to keep the practice operating seamlessly.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Base Salary: Up to $65,000 (Based on experience)
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Lunch: 1-hour daily lunch break
  • Time Off: 10 business days of paid time off (5 days vacation + 5 days personal time), your birthday off as a paid holiday, and all major federal holidays off when courts/banks are closed

Key Responsibilities

  • Portal & Tech Navigation: Actively manage, update, and upload case files within immigration platforms, including USCIS application systems, the National Visa Center (NVC), and the ECAS court electronic filing system.
  • Litigation & Case Support: Draft standard legal motions from firm templates, translate client documents, and methodically organize evidence packages for immigration court hearings and litigation.
  • Application Preparation: Assist the attorney in gathering documentation and organizing filings for administrative applications, focusing heavily on family-based adjustment of status and naturalization.
  • Client Coordination: Maintain consistent, empathetic communication with clients via phone and email to gather required documentation and keep cases moving ahead of strict deadlines.
  • Firm Database Management: Coordinate day-to-day file workflows and maintain accurate digital records utilizing the firm's Docketwise database software.

Qualifications

  • Immigration Firm Experience: Must possess strong, professional experience working within an immigration law firm handling administrative portal navigation and court filing systems (Note: This role does not involve writing legal briefs).
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Professional-level written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish are required to manage client communications and firm correspondence.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience working with case management systems and legal database software is required (experience with Docketwise is a strong plus).
  • Professional Attributes: Strong organizational skills with strict commitment to legal deadlines. Must be self-motivated and capable of managing case files independently without direct supervision.
