A typical day in immersive theatre involves rehearsing scene sequences, coordinating with fellow cast members and crew to ensure transitions run smoothly, and adapting performances based on audience interaction. Performers and crew might also help set up or modify sets, attend production meetings, and engage in workshops to refine their interactive and improvisational skills. Flexibility and creativity are essential, as every performance may bring new challenges and opportunities to engage with participants in unique ways.

These qualities enable immersive theatre practitioners to engage audiences dynamically and collaborate smoothly with directors and crew in intricate, interactive productions.

What is immersive theatre?

An immersive theatre job involves creating, performing, or managing theatrical experiences where audiences are active participants rather than passive observers. Roles in this field range from actors and directors to set designers and production staff, all working to craft interactive, engaging storylines. These experiences often take place in unconventional spaces, requiring performers to improvise and adapt to audience interactions. Immersive theatre professionals must be skilled at engaging audiences, staying in character, and thinking on their feet.
