POSITION TITLE: Imaging Systems Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Kodak Alaris is seeking a self-motivated, Imaging Systems Engineer to join our Kodak Moments Hardware Systems Solution group. The Imaging Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and lifecycle support of imaging and compute-enabled systems used in Kodak Moments products, including photo kiosks and travel & leisure imaging solutions, as well as related hardware subsystems that integrate with software via APIs.
This role covers end-to-end system development spanning image capture devices, video processing pipelines, hardware acceleration, and software interfaces. The engineer works across hardware, software, and service teams to evaluate, integrate, and commercialize, high-performance systems from concept through sustaining engineering.
Regular access to the Rochester NY office and development labs will be required. Occasional domestic or international travel may be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with a cross-functional commercialization team throughout product development and lifecycle support
  • Assist with specifying system and product requirements, for both hardware and software, including
  • Overall system architecture
  • Machine learning models and other image processing algorithms
  • Product image / video capture hardware and firmware
  • Software workflow and UI
  • Integrate imaging solutions
  • Evaluate image / video capture technologies
  • Integrate 3rd party imaging solutions to extend overall capabilities that will run in a highly scalable and robust system
  • Test and evaluate new technologies to provide solutions for implementation
  • Support software development and QA teams to commercialize solutions
  • Consistently delivering against commitments
  • Provide end-to-end product system design and testing support from concept through product life cycle for
    • Evaluation / prototyping and integration of computer peripherals and imaging devices, for both still and video applications
    • Development of the overall system architecture as part of a team
    • Work with team to design for HSE and regulatory agency approvals as needed
    • Drive component obsolescence component churn activities
    • Develop and maintain drawings and documentation for systems and subsystems
    • Provide input to and maintenance of drawing and part databases as required to support manufacturing and customers
    • Support software development and QA teams to commercialize solutions
    • Support project managers and develop configuration diagrams and bill of materials
  • Work with vendors and fabricators to specify parts and custom items for new and current product designs
  • Work with customers to understand needs and work through system design and installation. This may range from calls to in-person visits.
  • The scope of this role may evolve to include additional hardware technologies and compute platforms as system requirements expand.

SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE SPECIFICATIONS
Required
  • Broad understanding of imaging and video systems, including image capture, camera hardware, video processing pipelines, and performance considerations across hardware and software
  • Demonstrated systems skills, with a working knowledge of integration, programming, and troubleshooting, including use of tools and test equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of computer hardware systems and peripherals
  • Experience with C#, .NET Framework, Object Oriented Programing
  • Experience with Virtual Machines, VMWare ESXi, Azure, AWS and Arduino
  • Experience working with hardware APIs, SDKs, drivers, or vendor libraries
  • Experience with Windows and Linux
  • Experience with Docker
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience integrating and validating processing hardware (e.g., GPUs, accelerators) in Windows or Linux systems
  • Working knowledge of databases, data networks and communications and related applications to support the above requirements
  • Ability to learn/evaluate new technologies, provide technical guidance to product management, marketing and the business unit as needed
  • Concentration toward detail, quality, thoroughness and delivering on commitments
  • Work effectively in an environment where priorities and specifications are frequently changing
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Proven documentation abilities including design specifications and process documentation

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE SPECIFICATIONS
  • BS Degree in Electrical, Systems or Computer Engineering, Imaging Science, or related degree
  • Coursework or experience in imaging systems, computer architecture, or hardware-software integration strongly preferred.

Compensation: $81,000 - $101,000 annually, based on level of experience
