The Imaging team at Butterfly Network are the experts that work at the intersection of all critical components of our business to make Butterflyโ€™s magic happen. We work with our customers to correlate their clinical needs with our technical specifications. We innovate all of the ultrasound modes (b-mode, color imaging, 3D, PWD, biplane, needle-viz) that delight our customers. Core Responsibilities
  • Developing new or evolving existing ultrasound modes.
  • Owning specific clinical applications (e.g., cardiology) and becoming expert in the clinical needs of that community.
  • Working closely with our clinical team to optimize your application for image quality.
  • Partnering with HW, SW, Transducer and ASIC teams to advance next generation devices and innovate advanced processing algorithms.
  • Owning specific parts of our image processing pipeline (e.g., frequency compounding, scan conversion). Implement these processes using Python, C++, or GPU coding.
  • Performing a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities.
Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in EE, Physics, or related field.
  • Industry or academic experience in diagnostic ultrasound or related field (5+ years).
  • Fundamental knowledge of basic ultrasound modes: B-mode, Doppler Color Flow Imaging, etc.
  • Understanding of beamforming, diffraction, synthetic aperture fundamentals.
  • Passionate and competent at working closely with the hardware.
  • Strong software skills, especially in C, C++, CUDA, OpenCL, Python.
  • Strong modeling skills using both Python and MATLAB.
  • Advanced Mathematical, Signal and Image Processing skills.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Project leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate the activities of colleagues.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical analog and digital circuits.
  • Ability to design and program FPGAโ€™s using Verilog.
  • Understanding of human physiology, especially as it relates to ultrasound.
  • Familiarity with different GPU hardware and development environments (example Vulkan).

Location

Butterfly offers a hybrid work model for most positions, with team members spending two or more days a week in the office. While flexibility is key, we value in-person connections that spark creativity and teamwork. This is a hybrid position and will be based out of our office in Burlington, MA. Our office is located near the Burlington Mall in an area called โ€˜The District'. Compensation

Our estimated salary for this role is between $150,000 - $170,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
