Embrace the Art of Communication in the Heart of the Pacific Northwest - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us
Overview
Imagine a career that empowers connections and inspires change. As a Speech Language Pathologist in one of the most dynamic neighborhoods of Portland, your expertise will do more than address communication and swallowing disorders; it will open doors to potential, build confidence, and foster relationships. From energetic children embarking on their language journey to wise seniors striving for renewed independence, your role will touch lives in profound ways.
This position presents a unique chance to work with individuals throughout their life stages, offering a combination of outpatient therapy and occasional inpatient care. Whether your heart beats for pediatric language acquisition, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or geriatric cognitive recovery, you will discover fulfillment and flexibility here.
Description
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations employing standardized tests and clinical observations.
  • Create tailored treatment plans that prioritize both short-term goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions focusing on language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to ensure a unified approach to patient care.
  • Educate patients and families to support their progress outside of clinical settings.
  • Occasionally assist with inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions to ensure a smooth continuum of care.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation that adheres to state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Engage in continual learning to stay at the forefront of industry advancements through professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required if not yet ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • Active license as a Speech Language Pathologist within the state.
  • Preferred: ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be achieved within 30 days of hire.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-informed therapeutic strategies applicable to all age groups, with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to adjust therapy approaches to cater to varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical judgment and analytical thinking.
  • Comfortable with electronic medical records and documentation practices.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary based on experience.
  • Flexible work arrangements to accommodate a healthy work-life balance.
  • Chance to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • Support for continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
  • A collaborative atmosphere that values teamwork and a commitment to exceptional care and lifelong learning.

A Journey That Moves Together - Embrace Your Impact
In this position, you won't just be delivering speech therapy; you'll be engaging in a mission-driven community endeavor to restore voices, enrich communication, and create joyful moments through the most fundamental human interactions: understanding and being understood.
Here, you'll collaborate with fellow clinicians who treat each other with camaraderie, within a culture that prioritizes collaboration over competition. Each patient has a narrative; we trust you to help shape that narrative with empathy and skill.
