How much do image stitching jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for image stitching in the United States is $25.65, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $18.51 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Image Stitching Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as an Image Stitching Specialist, you need a solid understanding of computer vision, image processing, and algorithms, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++, and expertise in tools like OpenCV, MATLAB, or specific image stitching libraries, are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication skills help you deliver accurate results and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These skills ensure high-quality stitched images, efficient workflows, and successful integration of visual data in various applications.

What is the difference between Image Stitching vs Photogrammetrist?

AspectImage StitchingPhotogrammetrist
Required CredentialsBasic image processing skills, often self-taught or with short coursesDegree in geospatial sciences, surveying, or related fields
Work EnvironmentSoftware-based, often in offices or labsFieldwork combined with office analysis
Industry UsagePhotography, mapping, virtual toursMapping, surveying, GIS projects
Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

Image Stitching involves combining multiple images to create seamless panoramas or maps, primarily using software. Photogrammetrist specializes in extracting accurate spatial data from photographs for mapping and surveying. While both roles work with images, Image Stitching focuses on visual continuity, whereas Photogrammetrist emphasizes spatial accuracy and analysis.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in image stitching roles?

Professionals in image stitching often encounter challenges such as dealing with varying lighting conditions, exposure differences, and inconsistencies in image alignment. These factors can make it difficult to create seamless panoramas or composite images. Additionally, managing large datasets and processing high-resolution images efficiently requires technical expertise and familiarity with specialized software. Collaboration with photographers, developers, and quality assurance teams is also essential to ensure the final output meets project requirements and maintains visual consistency.

What is image stitching?

Image stitching is the process of combining multiple photographic images with overlapping fields of view to produce a segmented panorama or high-resolution image. This technique is commonly used in photography, computer vision, and mapping applications to create a seamless composite image. Image stitching involves aligning, blending, and merging images so that they appear as one continuous picture. Specialized software and algorithms help automate this process, correcting for differences in perspective, exposure, and distortion. The end result is a wide-angle or detailed image that would be difficult to capture in a single shot.

What jobs can you get with sewing skills?

Sewing skills can qualify you for jobs such as seamstress, tailor, costume designer, or textile worker. These roles often require proficiency with sewing machines, attention to detail, and knowledge of fabrics and patterns.

Job description

Salary:

We're looking for a FPGA Engineer to join our Optronics team in Granada, Spain.

Our Technology:

Safran is a global leader in optronics, delivering cutting-edge electro-optical systems for defense, aerospace, and security applications. Our portfolio features cutting-edge multispectral imaging technologies, including both infrared and visible spectrum sensors. These technologies are integrated into airborne, naval, and land platforms, supporting missions from surveillance and reconnaissance to targeting and navigation. Safrans optronic solutions are trusted by armed forces worldwide for their reliability, performance, and technological superiority.

Were also a world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) solutions that improve the reliability, performance and safety of critical applications, and high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. We provide virtually fail-safe GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) and PNT (Positioning, Navigation and Timing) solutions for military and commercial applications worldwide.

To this end, we have developed industry-leading solutions that are built around a sound foundation of ultra-accurate synchronization (sub-ns) and frequency distribution services. These combine to deliver a broad set of products and technical solutions based on the enhanced White Rabbit PTP (Precision Time Protocol) synchronization technology for myriad applications, ranging from timing distribution in financial networks to robust and reliable positioning.

In addition, we are experts on control systems and diagnostics applications for particle accelerators and scientific facilities. We provide highly innovative elements and dependable solutions with always time at the essence of the solution.

The position:

We are looking for an FPGA Engineer specialized in image and video processing who is highly motivated to work with a talented and diverse engineering team to address the development of a high-performance multi-camera platform for airborne systems. The platform integrates multiple video streams and requires advanced real-time video processing to deliver a unified output to the pilot for better visual perception in a degraded environment.

As part of the optronics engineering team, you will be responsible for implementing key FPGA image and video processing functions such as:

- Video acquisition and preprocessing from multiple camera sources.

- Video distribution with left/right channel segregation.
