The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Key responsibilities:

Design, development, implementation and support of business and manufacturing software processes, functions, and systems in manufacturing environment.

In this role you will:

  • Design, development, test and support of Engineering and data analysis systems written in VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#.
  • Create and optimize image and signal processing algorithms.
  • Support optical equipment - high speed video cameras, video cameras' API, quality control benches and measurement equipment.
  • Integrate MES systems with SAP ERP.
  • Create detailed technical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively across organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and IT) within a manufacturing plant.
  • Provide off-hours support for existing software and equipment based on rotation.

Required:

  • Bachelors or master's in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Optics or similar relevant focus.
  • 7+ years software development experience in manufacturing, engineering design or scientific research fields.
  • Experience in manufacturing (IT, Engineering or R&D).
  • Knowledge of data analysis, business modelling, and optimization algorithms.
  • Experience working with SQL databases e.g. Oracle, MSSQL Server.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 201x (.NET, VB).
  • Good knowledge of signal and image processing algorithms. (Strong Mathematical knowledge may be accepted in lieu of signal/image processing experience).
  • Understanding of the Principles of Optics.
  • Excellent communication, in both verbal and written form.

 

Preferred:

  • Some knowledge of National Instrument data acquisition equipment.
  • Some knowledge of TwinCAT (or similar) automation software and controls.
  • Some knowledge of SAP ERP desirable.
  • Some knowledge of Python and cloud application development desirable.
  • Self-motivated and well organized.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across multiple regions.
  • Process oriented and customer focused.

This is an onsite position, located at the Corning Incorporated Fiber Optics Plant in Wilmington, NC.

The range for this position is $106,089.00 - $145,873.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
