SABG is hiring aMechanical Engineer - Design Support to support Civil Engineer and Acquisition Support Services at Hurlburt Field, FL. Travel: On-site. No travel outside the perimeter of Hurlburt Field is expected. This position is contingent upon contract award. JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer - Design Support CLEARANCE: U.S. national personnel require a minimum of a NACI/SF85 LOCATION: Hurlburt Field, FL Selected candidates will contribute to a comprehensive suite of Design and Construction Support Services delivered on behalf of the 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron (1 SOCES) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. All work products shall meet high quality standards, be submitted on schedule, and be performed on-site at Hurlburt Field. Scope of services encompasses oversight of professional services activities; studies, analyses, and technical evaluations; and the application of specialized engineering and technical knowledge. Personnel will be assigned to support either the Engineering Flight (CEN) or the Operations Flight (CEO). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to provide design and technical support for complex mechanical systems within DoD and commercial facilities and infrastructure programs. This position sits within the Operations Flight (CEO) and centers on the analysis, design, and technical development of HVAC systems, potable and non-potable water distribution infrastructure, and mechanical pumping systems. * Design and develop engineering solutions for complex mechanical systems, with an emphasis on HVAC, water distribution, and pumping infrastructure. * Provide specialized mechanical engineering support to multi-discipline project teams working on DoD and commercial facility programs. * Contribute to integrated design efforts that require coordination across electrical, structural, and civil engineering disciplines. * Produce and review technical documentation including mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, and design narratives. * Offer technical guidance on mechanical systems performance, regulatory compliance, and constructability to project stakeholders. * Requirement Development Support * * Automated Data Processing (ADP) Systems: Maintain expertise in the ADP tools and systems used by 1 SOCES and its customers to support mechanical engineering requirements under this PWS. * Data Repository: Collect, store, evaluate, and present engineering and program data generated through mechanical systems support activities in furtherance of the 1 SOCES mission. * Data Collection: Execute data collection activities specific to mechanical systems to adequately define project requirements for programming and A/E submission purposes. * Design and Production of Visual Media Products: Produce technical visual media - including mechanical systems diagrams, schematics, and presentation graphics - in support of 1 SOCES engineering and program communication needs. * GeoBase, GeoReach and Other Geospatial Functions: Utilize GeoBase, GeoReach, and other geospatial platforms to support mechanical infrastructure planning, analysis, and mission support activities for 1 SOCES. * Design Management Support * * Automated Data Processing (ADP) Systems: Demonstrate proficiency in the ADP systems and digital tools utilized by 1 SOCES and their customers to fulfill design management responsibilities under this PWS. * Data Repository: Administer the storage, transfer, evaluation, and communication of data generated through design management activities in support of the 1 SOCES mission. * Pre-Award Support: Develop technical documentation for A/E contractor solicitation by translating customer requirements into complete design packages - including parametric cost estimates, design instructions, and DD Form 1391 supporting data. Support 1 SOCES in the management and administration of A/E contracts. * Technical Interchange: Provide mechanical engineering expertise to 1 SOCES through technical presentations, facilitated meetings, and the preparation of agendas and minutes. Specific deliverable requirements will be identified at the Task Order level. * Deliverable Review: Review A/E contractor submittals within one week of receipt, evaluating technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Deliver written findings with a recommendation supporting government acceptance or rejection. * Documentation: Contribute to program file organization, records management, and administrative support - including filing minutes from regulatory meetings and partnering sessions conducted at Hurlburt Field. * Statutory and Regulatory Requirements Support: Evaluate and interpret new statutory and regulatory requirements as they apply to mechanical systems within 1 SOCES programs. Develop recommendations for Air Force implementation and integration. * Cost and Scheduling Support: Prepare cost and scheduling deliverables to support mechanical design activities, including ROM parametric estimates, design instructions, design-phase project status reports, and corrective action recommendations for schedule or cost deviations. * Design Acquisition/Execution Support: Support design acquisition and execution activities within appropriate contractor authority limits. Personnel shall not perform inherently governmental functions as defined by OFPP Policy Letter 11-01 and FAR Subpart 7.5, and shall not make decisions, issue direction, negotiate, or execute contracts on behalf of the government. * Design and Project Development * * Pre-Award Support: Translate customer-identified mechanical systems requirements into complete technical packages ready for Construction contractor solicitation, encompassing parametric cost estimates, statements of work, and all documentation needed to advance the project to completion. Support 1 SOCES in administering construction contracts. * Technical Interchange: Bring mechanical engineering expertise to bear in support of 1 SOCES construction project coordination. Deliver technical briefings, compile meeting agendas and minutes, and facilitate or participate in project coordination meetings. * Deliverable Review: Perform technical evaluations of Construction contractor submittals within one week of receipt, assessing accuracy, completeness, and conformance with applicable regulations and specifications. Produce written review findings with a formal recommendation for government acceptance or rejection. * Documentation: Assist with the organization and maintenance of construction project files, records, and related administrative materials, including minutes from regulatory and partnering sessions held at Hurlburt Field. * Core duty hours are 0730-1630. Personnel may be required to work outside these hours as needed to meet PWS deliverable timelines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Five (5) or more years of professional experience developing engineering designs and technical solutions for complex mechanical systems in DoD or commercial facility and infrastructure contexts, including HVAC, water distribution systems, and/or pumps. • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
