Job description

Step into a meaningful contract role delivering impactful music therapy services within a school setting. As a Music Therapist, you'll support students in achieving their potential through individual and group sessions while collaborating closely with educational staff, parents, and administrative teams. This part-time itinerant position, based near Katy, TX, offers flexibility in your weekly scheduling and the opportunity to grow your hours over the course of the academic year.
Key Qualifications:

  • National Certification in Music Therapy is required.
  • Experience delivering music therapy services within school settings, including for students with autism and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess students with disabilities and determine eligibility for therapy services.
  • Knowledge of IEP compliance and familiarity with music therapy documentation protocols.
  • Completion of required fingerprinting (or existing clearance in the district system).
Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group music therapy sessions within school campuses.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust schedules to ensure IEP and campus compliance.
  • Evaluate student progress and contribute to ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) committee meetings.
  • Assess, document, and support IEP goals and objectives for assigned students.
  • Consult with staff, parents, teachers, and administrators to improve outcomes and understanding of music therapy benefits.
  • Create positive, developmentally appropriate environments for learning and behavioral support.
  • Coordinate ongoing evaluation of the music therapy program and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participate in professional development and adhere to district policies.
