While an ice skating rink focuses on managing the facility and ensuring safety, an ice skating instructor specializes in teaching skating techniques. Both roles are essential in the skating industry, but they serve different functions within the same environment.
Jobs at an ice skating rink involve facility operations and guest services. A manager oversees all operations at an ice arena. In this position, you schedule ice time, create an operations budget, and hire employees. Ice rinks also have technicians whose duties focus on preparing and maintaining the ice. They also repair equipment and systems to regulation conditions and groom the ice. Finally, a rink has employees like instructors and customer service workers. Instructors teach patrons how to skate or help them improve their skating skills. The responsibilities of customer service workers include renting skates, collecting admission fees, and cleaning the facility.
