Description

JOB SUMMARY: This position performs maintenance and repairs of the facility's ice resurfacing and mechanical equipment. They must be able to coordinate repairs with vendors, or local rink staff. This position is responsible for the successful delivery of preventative maintenance and emergency break-fix services to ensure all equipment is safe and operating properly at all StarCenter locations. This position is not eligible for remote work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to repair mechanical equipment with minimal supervision and/or assistance 

Ability to identify failures and inventory needed for repairs 

Assist management in inventory control of tools and supplies 

Supervising duties include ice installation, ice removal, preventative maintenance tasks, and building projects 

Coach local rink staff on correct maintenance practices to decrease failures 

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service 


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement and practice facility regulations, policies, and procedures 

Communicate issues and ideas to management in a constructive and positive manner 

Provide clear, concise, and timely communication 

Assist manager with budget control 

Assist with contractor-related maintenance of the building and site 

Responsible for the completion of work orders assigned through management 

Ensures a safe environment for all patrons and employees by following the life safety and emergency program 


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D

Extensive mechanical service experience required

Advanced knowledge of ice plant system functions (ammonia, glycol, brine, compressors, etc.) is strongly preferred

Knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and 12v vehicular systems

High level of problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Required certificates - OSHA 10 Hour general industry, Ammonia Safety, Crowd Management

Experience driving forklifts, scissor and boom lifts

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 

Able to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays


Physical Demands and Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle large objects, tools, carts, and drive machinery. Reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, and hear for up to 8-14 hours a day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the function, and may be also exposed to adverse conditions including inclement weather, noise, fumes, etc.
