STATUS: PART-TIME (NON-EXEMPT)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ice Resurfacer is responsible for maintaining safe and high-quality ice conditions for a variety of ice-related events and activities. The Ice Resurfacer Operator will ensure the ice surface is properly prepared before and after events, practices, and recreational sessions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist with ice setup and takedown for events
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards while operating machinery and working in proximity to athletes and spectators
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of ice resurfacer and edger
  • Monitor ice quality throughout events or recreational sessions, adjusting as necessary
  • Collaborate with the ice operations team to ensure the efficient use of time and resources
  • Ensure that the ice rink area is clean and free from hazards
  • Perform general maintenance tasks around the rink as assigned, including sweeping and cleaning
  • Respond to all incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations. Complete and file corresponding paperwork as necessary
  • Assist other departments as necessary
  • Practice safe operating techniques as specified by STAR for blade changes, driving, resurfacing, handling, and inspection of machines Accurately record all ice and equipment maintenance and readings daily
  • Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of ice maintenance and resurfacing procedures
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Certified Ice Technician (CIT) preferred
  • Must be able to work irregular shifts to include nights, weekends, holidays based on facility schedules

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Work is performed in an ice arena environment, which includes cold temperatures and varying noise levels
