Maintenance Technician II - Facility (Ice Rink Assistant Manager)

This role involves performing a variety of supervisory and journey-level duties while actively participating in the daily maintenance and operations of the Western Park Ice Rink and entire complex. A critical component is ensuring proactive, timely facility maintenance to anticipate and prepare for scheduled events. This involves coordinating closely with office staff and community groups to meet all detailed specifications for customer events. Day-to-day operations include maintaining and cleaning the ice rink, inspecting the rink, skates, and other equipment for safety issues, and performing extensive environmental maintenance. Groundskeeping responsibilities include landscaping operations such as planting and grooming lawns, trees, and shrubbery, as well as installing and maintaining sprinkler systems and timers. Finally, the position includes essential administrative and financial tasks, such as handling money, operating and balancing the cash register, processing credit card transactions, and preparing deposits.


Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), supplemented by technical school training or certification in maintenance, construction, or facilities management. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in facility maintenance, with established proficiency in critical trades such as plumbing, electrical systems, and painting. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience will be accepted.


Required Knowledge:

Thorough knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and repair methods; plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems; current building codes; necessary equipment and materials; safety hazards and precautions; risk management principles; facilities maintenance best practices; and adherence to OSHA and ADA legal requirements.


You must also be available for 24-hour emergency calls.
