Akins Ford Arena is seeking an experienced and motivated Ice Manager to lead all ice operations for one of the Southeast's newest entertainment and sports venues. This hands-on leadership role oversees the arena ice sheet, outdoor rink, ice crews, and equipment while ensuring exceptional ice quality for hockey, public skating, tournaments, special events, and seasonal programming.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who enjoys leading teams, operating specialized equipment, and creating first-class experiences for athletes, guests, and event partners.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee all ice operations, including installation, maintenance, resurfacing, repair, and removal of ice surfaces.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, event-ready ice for hockey games, practices, public skating, tournaments, rentals, and special events.
  • Lead, train, schedule, and supervise ice technicians, Zamboni drivers, and ice crew staff.
  • Manage ice-related equipment, maintenance programs, and inventory.
  • Support arena conversions, event setups, and operational changeovers.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Operations teams to maintain refrigeration and ice plant systems.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working in an arena, ice rink, stadium, convention center, or similar venue.
  • Knowledge of ice-making operations, rink refrigeration systems, and ice resurfacing equipment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience operating Zamboni or Olympia ice resurfacers preferred.
  • U.S. Ice Rink Association certifications (CIRM, CIT, CRA) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
