What you will do:

The Utility Operator provides entry-level work in production departments within the plant in both cheese and cold storage. The position is responsible for keeping the plant areas in a safe, sanitary, and efficient working order. This position provides work coverage for Operators when needed for absences, training, or other job assignments.  A Utility Operator may be assigned to special job duties if needed.

Here's a day in life:

  • Assists in the setup, cleaning, and operation of the towers, sealers, and boxers.
  • Maintain a clean work area and follows good manufacturing practices (GMP) standards.
  • Ability to understand ERP/NAV and use interface.
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting problems with equipment.
  • Maintain the general housekeeping according to the Make Room MSS.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by supervisor/lead during the course of the day.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Job requires being dependable, honest, ethical, reliable, responsible, and able to fulfill obligations.
  • 1+ years of food production or production manufacturing experience desired.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges, establishing and achieving goals, and exerting effort towards learning and mastering tasks.
  • Able to communicate effectively, act as a team player, and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Able to work a 12-hour night shift on a rotating schedule with every other weekend off.  Holidays shifts are also required. Cows produce milk everyday even on holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting supplies using equipment.
  • Standing raising and lowering up to 45# from to a height of 55".
  • Seldom lifting equipment.
  • Standing lifting and carrying to 45# at waist height for 6 feet.
  • Occasional lifting supplies using equipment.
  • Standing raising and lowering 45#.
  • Must be to lift up to 50 pounds.
