Ground Market is a community gathering place in the heart of Carlton, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley-bringing together a wood-fired pizza and ice cream shop alongside a market and farmstand rooted in the region's agricultural abundance. The space is warm, lively, and welcoming, inviting locals and visitors to connect over simple, good food.

Job Summary:

Create welcoming, easygoing, and memorable guest experiences at the heart of The Ground Market. As a Server/Bartender, you are the face of the wood-fired pizza and ice cream shop, guiding guests through our food, beverage, and market offerings with warmth, clarity, and care. This role is focused on hospitality, efficiency, and connection-supporting a steady flow of service where guests come primarily for great food, shared meals, and a relaxed community experience. You will serve beer, wine, and a small selection of simple, well-crafted cocktails, while ensuring every guest feels taken care of from arrival to departure.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Take food and beverage orders and serve guests in accordance with established service standards
  • Prepare and serve beer, wine, and a limited selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Enter orders accurately into the Toast POS system and communicate any modifications or special requests to the kitchen
  • Maintain strong, up-to-date knowledge of food, beverage, and market offerings, including seasonal changes-this includes ice cream selections, key ingredients, and a broader understanding of Ground Market's products and sourcing
  • Deliver thoughtful, attentive, and efficient service with a strong guest-first mindset
  • Actively support guest flow by bussing and resetting tables, running drinks, and maintaining a constant, proactive presence on the floor
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared service area and dining room
  • Provide occasional support on the market side, assisting guests with purchases and questions, as well as supporting ice cream service, including opening and closing the station
  • Complete opening and closing procedures to ensure the space is set up for success and properly reset at the end of service
  • Process guest payments using proper cash handling and POS procedures
  • Collaborate closely with kitchen and market teams to ensure smooth, timely service
  • Help create a warm, welcoming environment that reflects the values of Ground Market


Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to operate a Point of Sale system accurately and efficiently
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and simple cocktail preparation
  • Understanding of service flow in a fast-paced, casual dining environment
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with a wide range of guests
  • Ability to stay organized and calm during busy service periods
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility and willingness to support wherever needed
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Current State Food Handler's License and OLCC certification required
  • Familiarity with cash handling procedures
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds

Experience:

  • 2-4+ years of restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
  • Prior serving experience in a high-volume, casual dining environment a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and genuine enjoyment of guest interaction
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a collaborative approach to service
