Job description

Hunt Electric is seeking a full-time, experienced DAS Field Engineer to join our team within the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) department in our Technology Division.

The DAS Field Engineer, aka DAS Integrator, is responsible for commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of Public Safety and commercial Cellular wireless distributed antenna systems (DAS). The position will work on a team with design engineers, system installers, and project management to deliver in-building wireless systems. In addition, the position will assist in further development and refinement of existing DAS standards, practices, and procedures currently in place.

Major Duties:

  • Conduct site surveys.
  • Use data collection tools to collect wireless signal measurements.
  • Commission DAS systems to OEM specifications.
  • Perform live signal integration onto DAS.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential DAS issues, to include fiber-optic RF, and copper communication links.
  • Review and interpret sweep and PIM test results.
  • Perform acceptance testing procedures of DAS systems in the field.
  • Provide status reporting in a timely manner, and process post field data using industry software.
  • Interpret and translate field RF data into written reports.
  • Incorporate photos, test data, field data, and site information from field crew(s) and assemble project documentation package.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with various wireless service provider signal sources.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in using MS Office, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to interface with routers, switches, and DAS controllers, interpret sweep and PM test results.
  • Ability to interpret RF KPIs for 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies.
  • Assemble required documentation, both pre and post construction, for delivery to client or other interested party(ies), under supervision of the Project Manager.
  • Experience interfacing and working with design engineers, project management, other team members, customers, and system end-users.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrate dependability with regular attendance and compliance to scheduled work hours.
  • Be a self starter.
  • Occasional travel. ~25% or less.
  • Other duties or locations as assigned by Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of iBwave design software.
  • Experience and certification on various field test equipment is required (spectrum analyzer, signal generator, optical light source & power meter, RF scanner, etc.).
  • Possess OEM product experience and certification from a minimum of two current DAS OEMs (Corning, JMA/TEKO, SOLiD, Commscope).
  • Public Safety DAS commissioning experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering a plus.
  • Fiber-optic and Ookla Wind software certifications.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position with a typical working schedule of Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 4:30pm and Fridays 7:00am - 2:00pm.
