Job description

Role: IBM iSeries Architect
Location: Boston, MA (EST)/Remote/US
Duration: Fulltime
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to
Must be an Architect
  • RPGLE and DB2
  • Application Programming
  • Design Experience
  • Responsible for assisting design, development, and implementation of enterprise wide iSeries system layers and AS400 applications and their associated operating systems and databases
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support in the development of progress at all iSeries system layers, including iSeries application data, processing, and front-end systems for iSeries environment supporting AS400 applications.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality
  • Conducts design sessions with appropriate participation from architects and engineers
  • Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services
  • Participation in full lifecycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Closely work with Customers to understand their business and technical requirements.
  • Suggest best suitable design, licenses, and implementation approaches for scalable and robust application.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables from technology perspective.
  • Understand the IBM iSeries ecosystem, limits and best practices. Use these while designing the tech solution in detail
Required Skills / Experience Exposure:
  • BS/MS/BE/MCA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Understanding of IBM iSeries AS/400 architecture, licensing model and best practices
  • Strong working in support engagements is MUST.
  • Hands-on knowledge of all aspects of systems architecture and development at all Power releases
  • Able to identify iSeries needs, draw up a plan of how to implement the need and then be able to execute the plan
  • Extensive experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting on the iSeries platform using tools like Performance Navigator and iDoctor
  • Have directly involved in managing the releases of various IBM iSeries applications - with deep-dive understanding of packages and changesets
  • Experience working in Cloud technologies
  • Strong working experience on CI-CD
  • Strong problem solving and communication skill.
  • Good in-depth knowledge on integration patterns, security design
