Job description

Iberia Medical Center is an award-winning hospital committed to improving the health and quality of life of its community while being a favorite place of employment in south Louisiana. The not-for-profit hospital recently celebrated 60 years of service and is Joint-Commission accredited. Iberia Medical Centerâ€'s multiple campuses are home to over 30 medical specialties provided by over 140 physicians.
Iberia Medical Center is currently looking to hire a Certified Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech), on a full time basis. The Surgical Tech assists with the nursing care of patients receiving surgical care and surgical intervention. Duties include scrubbing and other related procedures, including but not limited to: instrument setup, delivery during procedures, assisting the surgeons, instrument cleaning, processing and maintenance. Effectively interact with patient, significant others, and other heath team members. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.
EDUCATION
  • High School Graduate &/or graduate of accredited Surgical Technology Program.
  • Eligible, but not mandatory, to sit for the Surgical Technologist Certification Exam or grandfathered for LPNâ€s and OR Techs who received on the job training.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
  • Current certification in the State of Louisiana, if applicable.

JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Basic knowledge of suture materials and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of biology and chemistry.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Thorough knowledge of surgical procedures, maintenance and care of equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, laparoscopic, and powered surgical equipment.
