About the team you are joining

IATA is the trade association for the world's airlines, representing over 320 airlines across 120 countries. Our members comprise 83% of total air traffic. IATA's mission is to represent, lead, and serve the airline industry.

You will join IATA's Corporate Taxation department which is one of six departments under the Corporate Services Division reporting to the CFO. The team will be growing to five and made up of three people in Geneva and two in Montreal. You will be based in Montreal, reporting to IATA's Manager, Corporate Taxation.

The Corporate Tax department is responsible for IATA's direct and indirect tax planning and compliance worldwide. This includes providing support to all of IATA's lines of business to ensure IATA's global advocacy, products and services are delivered in accordance with IATA's NPO status, while ensuring IATA complies with all tax filing obligations. The Corporate Tax team enables tax-effective business decisions, defends IATA's tax positions and tax status worldwide, and is responsible for all tax reporting and compliance.

What your day would be like

1. Tax Compliance, Reporting & Analytics

  • Support the Corporate Tax Manager with monthly GST and U.S. Sales Tax compliance filings and reports.
  • Assist in conducting annual campaigns with U.S. customers to collect Sales Tax exemption certificates and maintain them in IATA's U.S. sales tax tool (Vertex).
  • Assist with the preparation and running of SAP tax control reports.

2. Tax Systems, Tax Technology & ERP Support

  • Gain exposure to tax technology systems such as SAP and Vertex, and learn how they support tax compliance and reporting activities.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on tax-related systems, including SAP, Vertex, the IATA Online Store, and other billing platforms.
  • Assist with verifying customer data and updating master data in ERP systems as needed.

3. Tax Research

  • Assist with gathering legislative and background information on tax topics (such as U.S. sales taxes) to support team planning discussions.

4. Business Advisory

  • Support the delivery of tax-optimizing advice to internal stakeholders on topics such as IATA events in new markets, launching training centers, and opening new offices.

5. Documentation & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide tax documentation-such as registration, clearance, and exemption forms-to IATA product managers, customers, vendors, banks, and other partners.
  • Assist in managing global tax residency certificate applications and notary processes, ensuring documents are properly stored, accessible, and up to date.
