Are you ready to make an impact in the Hyperscale Industry? Join PTAG, a leading Project Management Advisory & Services firm, recognized across North America for helping world-class clients deliver major capital projects successfully.
We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer - Hyperscale to support our growing team in Hamlet, NC. In this role, you'll play a key part in driving project excellence, collaborating with industry leaders, and ensuring high-quality outcomes across complex initiatives.
About PTAG
At PTAG, we help our clients plan, manage, and execute their most challenging projects with innovation, integrity, and collaboration.
Our mission is to help our clients achieve successful delivery and efficient operation of their capital projects.
Our vision is to support global leaders in the selection, planning, and execution of their major initiatives.
Our values include:
  • Safety: The safety of our employees, suppliers, and clients is always the top priority.
  • Collaboration: We build true partnerships with clients and service providers.
  • Leadership: We elevate project performance through the application of best practices.
  • Accountability: We take responsibility for every aspect of our engagements.
  • Client Satisfaction: We strive for 100% satisfaction on every project.
  • Integrity: We believe in open and transparent communication at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the Hands-to-Cool (H2C) schedule in close coordination with the Campus Lead and Commissioning Lead, ensuring accuracy and timely updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Align the H2C schedule with the P6 master project schedule, identifying dependencies and potential critical path impacts and escalating conflicts to the Campus Lead/Project Scheduler for resolution.
  • Coordinate Level 1 through Level 3 (L1-L3) testing and verification activities to support on-time achievement of H2C milestones.
  • Support the Level 3-to-Level 4 handoff by ensuring documentation, Issues Log status, and readiness records are complete for transfer to the Owner's Commissioning Authority (ACx) and Commissioning Agent (CxA); provide documentation and coordination support if requested by the ACx/CxA during L4-L5 activities, within approved scope.
  • Drive timely resolution of commissioning observations, deficiencies, and test issues identified through L1-L3 by coordinating corrective actions with responsible parties; verify and document - does not approve or accept work.
  • Coordinate vendor and subcontractor resources and schedules required to support L1-L3 testing and commissioning activities.
  • Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST) readiness - including documentation completeness, punch list tracking, and coordination with the Owner's CxA/ACx during handoff and closeout - without performing IST execution or functional performance testing.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication and reporting with project stakeholders regarding commissioning schedule status, risks, and issue resolution.
  • Support development and maintenance of commissioning documentation, including L1-L3 test procedures, checklists, MOP scripts, and the Commissioning Issues Log.
  • Participate in daily commissioning meetings and broader project meetings, providing schedule and commissioning status updates to the Campus Lead, Commissioning Lead, and project team.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning, construction, or project engineering, preferably within mission-critical or data center environments.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning process levels (L1-L5) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) methodology, with a clear understanding of PTAG's L1-L3 scope boundary and the L3↛L4 handoff to the Owner's commissioning authority.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software; ability to interpret and align detailed schedules with the master project schedule.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and controls systems typical of critical facilities (e.g., cooling plants, electrical distribution, BMS/EPMS).
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders concurrently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting schedule and status reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning test procedures.

Compensation at PTAG varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience.
Why Join PTAG?
At PTAG, you'll be part of a dynamic, growing consulting firm that values professional development, collaboration, and innovation.
Opportunity to work on major infrastructure and capital projects.
  • Exposure to industry-leading clients and partners.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Flexible work environment and opportunities for advancement.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • A culture that values safety, accountability, and excellence.
