Job Overview:

The Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients under the direction of a physician. They are expected to deliver the hyperbaric therapy safely and effectively while contributing to an environment that promotes the healing and well-being of patients.

What Youโ€™ll be Doing:

  • Responsible for safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems and equipment.
  • Performs hyperbaric chamber and ancillary equipment operations and system maintenance as required.
  • Provides a caring environment at the facilities that encompass a patient first philosophy.
  • Accountable for the safe delivery of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to the hyperbaric patient throughout all aspects of care.
  • Supports onboarding of new team members and precepts as applicable.
  • Quality Achievement includes adherence to clinical documentation guidelines, comprehension of outcomes data, engagement in performance improvement activities and commitment to standard work.
  • Innovation is demonstrated by the application of technologies and methods that support patient care, actively seeking to implement evidence-based practice and new knowledge generated by hyperbaric medicine.
  • Acts as a safety advocate and manage the hyperbaric safety environment.
  • Assists with updating safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists with patient transporting as needed.
  • Responsible for thorough and accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system in timely manner according to organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Consistently adheres to company, hospital, and accrediting body clinical, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Ensures compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by safeguarding patient information and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality standards.
  • May be responsible for participating in the onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for This Role:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Currently Licensed/Certified EMT, CNA, or CMA with state or national licensure/certification.
  • Must have prior experience operating monoplace HBO chambers.
  • Valid Driver's License with positive driving history. A Chauffeur's License is required in some states.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from approved agency.
  • 2+ years of hands on experience in clinical environment. Prior experience in hyperbaric oxygen therapy preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from approved agency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to treat others with compassion and patience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • All employees are required to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures.

Desired Qualifications for this Role:

  • Basic knowledge of NFPA-99, PVHO, CGA, US Navy Dive Tables, NBDHMT, UHMS, and other related hyperbaric codes, standards, & organizations preferred.
  • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) preferred. If not currently certified as a CHT or DMT, must attend a UHMS/NBDHMT approved 40-hour hyperbaric course within six (6) months of hire date and complete 480 hours of hyperbaric training/preceptorship within twelve (12) months.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly SharePoint preferred.

Travel:

This position may require light ground and/or air travel.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by a Hyperbaric Technician to successfully perform the essential competencies, duties, and requirements of this position. These include standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 50 pounds and sitting for extended periods of time and looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time. In addition, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting and shifting heavy objects, as well as air travel, may be required. Employees should ask for assistance if needed.

Employment with The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine, LLC or NexGen Hyperbaric, LLC is contingent upon attesting to health clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to: evidence of vaccination for/immunity to Hepatitis B, Influenza (Flu), MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Varicella (Chickenpox), Tdap (Tetanus and Diphtheria), Tuberculosis (TB) testing. Additional vaccinations, proof of immunity, or documentation may be required.โ€ฏ
