Hyperbaric Technician I


Description: The Hyperbaric Technician I is responsible for the safe and effective
operation of hyperbaric chambers and patient care during treatments. Serving as the
primary technician in the absence of the Hyperbaric Department Supervisor, the
Hyperbaric Technician I will ensure the smooth daily operations of the department,
maintaining safety protocols and supporting the team. This position is ideal for a
seasoned technician who can take on additional responsibilities when required, without
assuming full supervisory duties.


Duties/Responsibilities:
 Patient Treatment: Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments according
to physician orders, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the session.
 Chamber Operation: Operate and monitor hyperbaric chambers, maintaining
proper settings and addressing any technical issues that arise during treatment.
 Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients during treatments for any signs of
discomfort or adverse reactions, and promptly report concerns to the clinical
team.
 Safety Protocol Adherence: Ensure all safety standards and protocols are
followed, including pre-treatment and post-treatment safety checks of chambers.
 Documentation: Accurately record patient information, treatment data, and any
observations related to the therapy session in accordance with facility standards.
 Equipment Maintenance: Assist with routine cleaning, maintenance, and
inspection of hyperbaric chambers and related equipment to ensure operational
readiness.
 Leadership Support: Act as the lead technician in the absence of the
supervisor, providing guidance and oversight to Hyperbaric Technician II’s and
support staff.
 Team Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare
providers to ensure seamless patient care and communicate any concerns or
updates regarding treatments.
Requirements:
 Minimum 1500 documented hyperbaric treatment sessions
 Preferred degree/certification in medical specialties, such as LPN/RN,
EMT/Paramedic, or RRT
 Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or equivalent required, may be
working towards a CHT
 CPR/BLS Certification
 Strong knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and safety protocols.
 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of
attention to detail and patient safety.
