The Industrial Hygiene Specialist will play a critical role in supporting Standard Nuclear's commitment to a safe and healthy workplace. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational health hazards. The Industrial Hygiene Specialist will work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and management teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs.ย 

RESPONSIBILITIESย 

Industrial Hygiene Program Development & Managementย 

  • Design, implement, andย maintainย comprehensive industrial hygiene programs toย identify, assess, and mitigate occupational exposures (chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards).ย 
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, including air sampling, noise monitoring, and other IH surveys.ย 
  • Maintain exposure records and recommendย appropriate engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.ย 

Compliance & Regulatory Oversightย 

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOE, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards (e.g., ACGIH TLVs, NIOSH RELs).ย 
  • Prepare andย maintainย documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.ย 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during regulatory inspections and internal compliance reviews.ย 

Training & Educationย 

  • Develop and deliver training programs on key industrial hygiene topics such as chemical safety, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and hazard communication.ย 
  • Educate employees and leadership on workplace hazards and safe work practices.ย 

Incident Investigation & Risk Assessmentย 

  • Participate in incident investigations related to occupational health exposures and recommend corrective actions.ย 
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to proactivelyย identifyย and address potential hazards.ย 

Collaboration & Continuous Improvementย 

  • Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate IH considerations into process design and workplace changes.ย 
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to advance safety culture and reduce health risks.ย 
  • Provideย technical guidance on theย selectionย and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).ย 

Cross-functional Collaborationย 

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to integrate MC&A controls into facility operations.ย 
  • Communicate compliance status, risks, and corrective actions clearly to leadership and stakeholders.ย 

PREFEREDย QUALIFICATIONSย 

  • Background in Industrialย Hygiene, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.ย 
  • Experienceย in ES&H with a focus on industrial hygiene, preferably in manufacturing, laboratory, or energy sector environments.ย 
  • Hands-on experience with air monitoring equipment, noise dosimeters, IH instrumentation, and sampling methods.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ACGIH TLVs, NIOSH criteria, and exposure control strategies.ย 
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sampling data and recommend effective controls.ย 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and training skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.ย 
  • Proficiencyย with IH software, data management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.ย
