Job description

Hydro in Rockledge is looking for a full-time Quality Assurance Lab Technician to join our team!


Hours: 3rd Shift (11:00pm-7:00am)


Scope:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain workflow.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5 S standards.
  • Requires the ability to perform all duties within limitation of the standard methods and procedures, and in accordance with strict adherence to HSE, quality and productivity requirements.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensure to perform required testing on all the material for welded tube and conforms the results meets to all required specs and tolerance.
  • Perform test functions in suitable time frame to support production.
  • Record production test results in computer database system and make tags and labels.
  • Follow proper MRT procedure for any material out of specs.
  • Perform disposition of the MRT materials with the direction from quality engineer and central quality lab.
  • Perform sample preparation for test measurements which includes cutting the samples using saw, marking the samples, perform metallographically techniques such as mounting, polishing and grinding the samples.
  • Perform a wide variety of product measurements techniques for welded tube. The measurement testing includes: Keyence vision measurement for compliance with dimensional and weld tube specifications by using optical microscope such as IM, VHX and VR, cleanliness testing, tensile testing for mechanical properties.
  • Perform and maintain record of daily calibration tests on all testing equipment’s in lab as required.
  • Conduct gauge repeatability studies and capability studies as per requirement.
  • Support Quality Engineer for collecting measurements data for PPAP approvals and Annual dimensional layout.
  • Audit product characteristics and production processes, to ensure compliance with required product specifications and quality procedures.
  • Make recommendations to quality improvement teams regarding processing modifications to enhance product quality. Write work instructions and procedures to suit quality program requirements.
  • Train employees in precision measurement techniques.
  • Work independently or within teams to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Breaks to be taken outside of production down time.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of Hydro’s safety, environmental and quality standards.
