Job description

Sydnor Hydro, a UFT company is a construction and equipment supply company specializing in groundwater and wastewater systems and products. We serve federal, state, and municipal governments as well as industrial, commercial, and recreational customers throughout Virginia and in eastern North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland.
 
Founded in 1889 by Thomas Sydnor under the name Sydnor Pump and Well Company, Inc. and have since expanded to meet the needs of hundreds of customers throughout the mid-Atlantic.

Sydnor Hydro is seeking an experienced Piping and Pump Mechanic to join our growing team! This role is key to supporting water and wastewater system installations and service projects across the region. This is a blended trade for individuals that enjoy the opportunity to work in a blended trade where piping, electrical and controls experience is gained. This is an on-site position in Richmond, VA.
What you'll do:
  • Install, maintain, and repair underground piping systems for water and wastewater applications
  • Perform pump installation, service, and troubleshooting (primarily under 20 HP)
  • Support system installations including piping, mechanical components, and basic controls
  • Install and assist with VFD systems and electrical components
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in the field
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project requirements
  • Operate equipment as needed for installation and service work
  • Travel to local customer sites and job locations
  • Follow all safety standards and ensure quality workmanship on every project
Background and Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with underground piping and utility system installation (required)
  • Background in pump systems, plumbing, or wastewater systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues
  • Experience reading blueprints and technical specifications
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and on a team
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • CDL license is a plus
  • Equipment operation experience
  • Experience with VFDs or controls systems
