What is a hyacinth?

Hyacinths are perennial flowering plants known for their vibrant, fragrant blooms that appear in early to mid-spring. They belong to the genus Hyacinthus and are native to the eastern Mediterranean region. Hyacinths are popular in gardens and as indoor potted plants due to their colorful, densely packed flower spikes and sweet scent. They are typically grown from bulbs planted in the fall and require well-drained soil and a sunny location. Proper care can ensure that hyacinths return year after year, bringing color and fragrance to gardens.
