Job description

Overview

PACE Supply is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Technical Support Specialist - HVAC to support our branch teams, contractors, and customers with technical expertise, product guidance, and troubleshooting support. This role serves as a technical resource for HVAC systems, helping drive customer success, sales growth, and operational efficiency through expert product and application support.

Responsibilities

Technical Support & Customer Assistance

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for HVAC equipment, controls, and related systems.
  • Assist contractors, internal sales teams, and branch staff with product selection, application questions, and system design considerations.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and recommend solutions, parts, or system adjustments.
  • Support start-up, commissioning, and warranty-related inquiries when needed.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Conduct technical training sessions for internal teams and customers on HVAC products, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Stay current on manufacturer updates, product releases, and industry trends.

Sales & Branch Support

  • Partner with Inside and Outside Sales teams to support technical quoting and project opportunities.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between PACE Supply, manufacturers, and contractors.
  • Assist with complex projects, specifications, and system recommendations.

Operational & Administrative

  • Document technical inquiries and resolutions in internal systems.
  • Support warranty claims, product returns, and manufacturer coordination.
  • Travel to branches or job sites as needed to provide technical support.
Qualifications

Required:

  • A combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify.
  • 2 years of experience in HVAC technical support, service, installation, engineering, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, systems, controls, and applications (commercial and/or residential).
  • Experience troubleshooting HVAC systems in the field or in a technical advisory role.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems.

Preferred:

  • HVAC certifications (EPA 608, NATE, or manufacturer certifications).
  • Experience working with HVAC distribution, contractors, or OEM manufacturers.
  • Technical training or instructor experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a hand-truck.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
