Job description

Position Overview: A Sheet Metal Technician will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal duct products utilizing blueprints, drawings and work orders in commercial and/or construction setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with supervisor and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Install, alter and repair sheet metal products, equipment ducts, and/or hoods for HVAC systems utilizing blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Plan and coordinate tasks and material amounts required for completion of work.
  • Plan and prepare equipment and tools necessary for performance of work.
  • Coordinate and assemble ducts, hoods, and other sheet metal products. These tasks include, but are not limited to bolting connections, applying insulation, inspecting assemblies, and installation for compliance with specifications.
  • Complete operational checks of ducts and other sheet metal installations to determine quality and if any corrective action is necessary.
  • Clean equipment and work area upon completion of work.
  • Coordinate work with Special Projects staff.
  • Provide information as required to Special Projects staff to keep jobs organized and customers informed of progress.
  • Maintain material stock levels in vehicle as well as keeping vehicle clean and organized.
  • Complete paperwork as required on a timely basis.
  • Provide direction and technical assistance to less experienced workers.

Supervisory Requirements:
  • This position may require responsibility of jobs that require supervision of others

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Proficient Verbal and Written English language skills
  • Ability to follow and carry out both written and verbal instructions in a timely manner
  • Ability to arrive on time daily
  • Ability to follow and perform procedures and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints accurately
  • Ability to perform minor field fabrication
  • Ability to safely use ladders in performance of job duties including climbing and descending from a ladder
  • Ability to work at heights above ground floor level
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Ability to use a tape measure, cut & drill holes
  • Demonstration of proper and safe use of tools, related equipment, and personal protection equipment
  • Adaptability: Manage competing demands and frequent changes in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively individually and in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently in commercial and construction settings
  • Maintain professional well groomed, workman like appearance with no visible tattoos or piercings
  • Maintain professional attitude at all times

Required Tool List
  • 2x Tape Measure • 9" Level • 2x Channel Lock Pliers • Cordless Tools

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability by Company insurance carrier
  • 5 or more years of experience in commercial sheet metal duct installation and fabrication

Working Conditions:
  • Workweeks are 5 Days: Monday thru Friday
  • 30 min to 1 hour of Unpaid Time for Lunch is recommended
  • Start Time is 7:00 AM, End Time is 4:00 PM
  • Staggered work schedule may be required
  • Overtime will be required on an as-needed basis
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required

Key Requirements:
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. - E-Verify System is used to verify employment eligibility
  • Will be subject to Pre-Employment drug and alcohol tests, background investigation
