Job description

Summary
The HVAC-R Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying all facility HVAC and refrigeration systems. This role also supports general facility, mechanical, and minor electrical repair needs. All work must comply with departmental standards, safety practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Formal Apprenticeship, Journeyman License, or HVAC Trade Certification, required
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation and responsiveness to service/repair requests
  • Knowledge of mechanical/computer interface systems
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet ARMC insurability requirements

Required Length and Type of Experience
  • Minimum of (4) four years experience in the maintenance and installation of facility HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Experience with computerized Energy Management Systems, preferred

Required Licensure or Certification
  • Graduation from an accredited trade school with emphasis in HVAC/R installation and maintenance, preferred
  • Current EPA Certification for refrigerant handling, required

Required Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Ability to perform repairs both indoors and outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry items over 75 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights exceeding 20 feet
