Job Description

The Program is seeking a talented HVAC Instructor to teach courses in Electrical Theory, Mechanical Theory, Gas Heat, Intermediate HVAC, Heat Pumps, and or Troubleshooting. The instructor may also teach advanced topics such as boilers, chillers, and building automation controls courses to air conditioning students. Those candidates should possess skills in Process Cooling, Pool Pak, Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, VRF/VRV, 5+ Ton Repair Experience, Building Automation Programming and Controls.

Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Air Conditioning Instructors will instruct lab and lecture classes in accordance with the established course syllabi. This includes organizing instruction towards achieving student learning outcomes; selection of textbooks and other curriculum; conferring with students; assigning grades; providing lab safety training and a safe and positive classroom and laboratory environment.

Other duties will include program assessment and curriculum development; student advising and mentoring; scholarship of teaching and learning upholding professional and ethical standards; outreach to the college, community, and profession; supervising student assistants and staff as necessary; and duties as assigned by the Program Lead and Department Chair.

The candidate is expected to participate in department, and college wide committees, as well as student recruitment activities. The candidate will participate and assist the team to maintain and develop strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee. They will also commit to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance at industry conferences and membership in professional associations.

Required Qualifications

Hold an Associates of Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related field from a regionally accredited College or University; and have a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the HVAC Industry. OR No degree and have a minimum of 15 years of work experience in the HVAC Industry, AND 1 year teaching or industrial training experience, and a Current EPA 608 Refrigerant Handling universal license.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates of Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related field from a regionally accredited College or University

20+ years of HVAC Industry experience

5+ years teaching.

Current HVAC Excellence- Certified Subject Matter Educator (CSME) credentials in relevant subject areas.

Current State of NV Contractors License

Current North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Industry Competency Exam (ICE) credentials in relevant subject areas.

Knowledge of computer classroom technologies.

Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce in a post-secondary environment.
