Summary:

ย ย ย ย ย ย The HVAC Mechanic, Level II, is responsible for independently performing routine preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as service repairs, on HVAC systems. This role includes the startup and commissioning of standard HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation and system performance. The position requires the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, as well as a strong understanding of ductwork, sheet metal construction, and refrigerant management practices. In addition to technical responsibilities, Level II Mechanics provide guidance and mentorship to Level I HVAC Mechanics to support skill development and overall team effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance and service repairs on HVAC systems without supervisionย 
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, startup, adjust and replace mechanical equipment and control componentsย 
  • Identify predictive failures and provide accurate information for spot quotesย 
  • Start up and commissioning of Standard HVAC equipmentย 
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical componentsย 
  • Replace or repair defective components including motors, controls, and electrical wiringย 
  • Test systems to ensure proper functioning after serviceย 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specificationsย 
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentationย 
  • Follow all required safety protocolsย 
  • Ability to mentor Level I HVAC Mechanicsย 
  • Utilize DST Technology

Requirements

  • HVAC vocational, job-related experience and/or trade certificate(s).
  • >3 years HVAC experience plus two years demonstrated troubleshooting experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent (Demonstrated industry knowledge and experience may be substituted)
  • Ability to communicate services performed with customers

Equipment-Specific Knowledge Requirements:

  • Furnaces, HVAC/R, cooling towers, controls, CRAC units, BMS, VAV systemsย 

Technical Knowledge Requirements:ย 

  • HVAC/R systems and installations, the ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics
  • Ductwork, sheet metal construction, refrigerant management

Certifications:

  • Universal CFC Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HVAC/R degree / certificate or equivalentย 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting
  • Bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, balancing, kneeling, twisting and standing
  • Perform service and repair functions from ladders and overhead
  • Carry and set up ladders up to 32 ft. in height (step or extension) as required
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, catwalks, etc.
  • Work from mechanical lifts
