This field-based role is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing HVAC control systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure reliable operation, energy efficiency, and exceptional customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with DDC controls, low-voltage systems, and commercial HVAC equipment, along with a strong technical aptitude and customer-focused mindset. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Programmers, and fellow field technicians while supporting projects from startup through long-term service.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission, and maintain HVAC controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Perform controller startup, point-to-point verification, wiring inspections, functional testing, and system commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, VFDs, communication networks, and other field devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, sequences of operation, and project specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, communication, and system performance issues.
  • Support startup, commissioning, optimization, and performance verification for new and existing BAS installations.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Programmers, subcontractors, and customers throughout project execution.
  • Train end users and facility personnel on system operation, maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting during project turnover.
  • Complete service reports, commissioning documentation, startup records, and other project documentation accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system inspections, and service calls as required.
  • Follow company safety policies and jobsite requirements while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience installing, commissioning, or servicing HVAC controls, Building Automation Systems (BAS), DDC controls, or related low-voltage systems.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, control sequences, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, controls, communication, and BAS-related issues.
  • Familiarity with BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, valves, dampers, VFDs, and other field devices.
  • Experience with one or more BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Distech, Alerton, Carrier, or similar systems.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other building automation communication protocols.
  • Experience commissioning commercial HVAC control systems is preferred.
  • EPA Certification, electrical license, or other technical certifications are a plus.
  • Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer and project sites throughout the Gulf Coast region.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (where applicable).
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Ongoing technical training and manufacturer certification opportunities.
  • Clear opportunities for career growth within a rapidly expanding Building Automation and Controls team.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented culture focused on safety, quality, and professional development.
